The iconic Hill House chair by Charles Rennie Mackintosh, featuring the original soft pink velvet upholstery and Cassina numbered stamp on the seat base.
Designed for the Hill House project in Scotland, from which it takes its name, its linear geometric shape suggests the minimalism and abstract graphic techniques of Japanese design combining symbolic and figurative values in a single, distinctive piece of furniture with great stage presence.
Charles Rennie Mackintosh (7 June 1868 – 10 December 1928) was a Scottish architect, designer, water colourist and artist. His artistic approach had much in common with European symbolism.
