Hand crafted from German steel, the 'Contemplation' daybed / occasional table by German artist/designer Christoph R Siebrasse features his signature cubist steel framing with marble slabs and a generous felt cover. First designed in 1988, Contemplation is one of five ever made.
An important figure in “Neues deutsches Design” [New German Design] movement of the 1980's, Siebrasse began making furniture at the age of 16 and still makes works today. In 1986, Siebrasse and his partner Rainer Schenk cofounded the "Confrontation Art & Design" group and started the "Avant-garde Design Center" at the Cologne International Furniture Fair, where they first exhibited.
