The rare Royalton dining chair with distinctive sculptural steel seat back and the subtly grooved seat base, by Philippe Starck.
Philippe Starck is a French industrial architect and designer known for his wide range of designs, including interior design and architecture.
In 1984 Ian Schrager (hotelier and co-found of Studio 54) asked the then-obscure Philippe Starck to design the Royalton lobby, in New York. Various commentators have described the importance of this moment in the history of the hotel business and interior design. The Royalton designed by Starck is considered by many the birth of a boutique/designer hotel.
