Over half a metre tall and in the style of vorticism, this abstract sculpture is hand carved from Carrara marble, mounted on a contrasting granite base.
The vorticists were a British avant-garde group formed in London in 1914 with the aim of creating art that expressed the dynamism of the modern world. Combining cubist fragmentation of reality with hard-edged imagery derived from machines and the urban environment, they were the British equivalent to futurism.
